ErgonoFlex power advantage

To maximize your investment, ErgonoFlex has the following guidelines to help you and your healthcare staff.

Vlogo

1. Maximizing Run Times:

The most important decision to maximize run time is to choose the most efficient technology components.

Thin-Client Laptops (i.e. NeoWare, WYSE) - 1.7 amps...............................................................up to 24 Hours Run Time*

Stand Alone Laptop - 2.3 amps......................................................................................................15-17 Hours Run Time*

Small Form Factor with DC Monitor (i.e.Tangent, A Open, ACER) - 3.2 amps...............................10-11 Hours Run Time*

(i.e. Planar PL 1900 DC monitor)

Thin-Client w/embedded Windows and DC Monitor (i.e. NeoWare, Tangent, WYSE) - 2.8 amps...11-12 Hours Run Time*

(i.e. Planar RL 1900 DC monitor)

Laptop with DC Monitor - 3.8 amps.....................................................................................................8-9 Hours Run Time*

(i.e. Planar RL 1900 DC monitor)

* Run times are highly dependent on the power management settings of each technology component.

2. The DC Advantage:

The terms “AC” and “DC“ represent “Alternating Current” and “Direct Current” respectively. Current DC flows in only one direction while AC flows in both. Batteries provide a steady push in a single Alternating Current (AC) is the type of electricity provided in standard wall outlets. It flows back equipment are designed to run off of AC current. Many electronic devices, however, typically called inverters that convert AC to DC embedded in their architecture. Electrical components that are designed to operate using DC current, but are powered by AC of the cord with a “brick” or “box” attached in line between the component and the wall. The required to operate the component since it uses energy to make the conversion. When powering from AC to DC, the resulting improved efficiency provides 20-30% increases in run times.

• DC power eliminates the use of an AC inverter

• An inverter decreases the mobile run time by 20-30%

• An inverter adds size and weight

• An inverter adds complexity and more parts for potential failure

DC powered Point-of-Care Carts enable nurses and caregivers to move however or wherever without skipping a beat;

DC power provides true mobility.

Two Sealed Lead Acid 12 Volt 18 Amp Hour batteries are the perfect combination of performance and weight.

The DC Cart has been certified to CE and IEC compliances.

3. Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) Batteries:

• They do not have shipping and receiving restrictions by the Federal Government. In fact, they are 98% recyclable.

• They are not highly volatile/combustable.

• Easily replaceable batteries.

• Inexpensive to replace

• Proven technology

• Reliable performance

• Long term cost savings

• At a cost savings to you, there is no need for internal laptop battery.

• Approved for charging in corridors and in patient rooms (JCAHO Compliant)

4. The DC Live Integrat ed Power System Software:

The DC Live software delivers microprocessor based technology for intelligent charging, reconditioning, state of charge monitoring and DC power control.

• Event Logging

Provides the user (management, IT, etc.) with a view of the sequence of events experienced by the power system.

Events shown are items such as battery state of health, low battery, shut down and a variety of others.

• Graphic Users Interface

Enables the user(s) to view the true state (health) of battery.

• Email Notification

Can be preset to send to multiple recipients (such as the IT manager and Nurse manager) when an alert arises.

This feature enables and teaches staff about battery management.

• Automatic orderly Windows shutdown (10 minute alert with 10% of charge left of battery), preventing over discharge

of battery and loss of critical data. (note: discharging the battery below 5% will damage the battery)

5. Recharging:

The DC Live Power System supports both the charging of the batteries as well as powering of devices simultaneously.

There are two power supplies to generate DC power from the Wall AC power source. This added benefit includes:

• Known charge time regardless of the load devices being powered

• Isolation of the devices from the charging system

• Allowing the cart to continue “in service” regardless the state of the batteries.

• 5 hours maximum to reach full load (charged from an empty battery).

• 80% capacity at 3.5 hours (not recommended)

• To maximize the life of the battery, fully charge the batteries at least once a week.

• 200 - 1000 approximate recharge cycles. With a battery life of 18 to 36 months.

• The DC Live Power System enforces safety. Continual monitoriing the true state of charge of the battery, ensures that both the user and the battery are in constant communication.

There are 3 stages of intelligent battery charging; bulk, absorption and float. The bulk stage is providing the initial charge to the battery using constant current and high voltage. The second stage, absorption, reconditions the battery through a controlled charge with constant voltage and diminishing current.

The last stage, float, conditions the battery using a safe constant voltage and low current to accept a complete and full charge.

Life of battery

The DC Cart Class by ErgonoFlex is making use of its mobility and reliability. Having a DC power system for increased efficency, helps you provide assistance longer and to not worry about when or where to charge your cart.

Inside operations

Take a look inside and you’ll see how ErgonoFlex’ DC Class Cart system configuation is unsurpassed in the industry.
